Response to Covid-19 - 2020 event cancelled
Dear fellow runners,
Like you, we had hoped that this action would not be necessary, but in line with government advice to “stop non-essential contact with others and non-essential travel, start working from home and avoid social venues”, we feel we have no choice but to cancel the Cape Wrath Ultra® that was due to be held 24th-31st May 2020.
If you have an active entry for the event then you will receive an email today via Si Entries with more information. We hope all of you can take up the offer of switching to join us at the May 2021 event instead to fulfil your Cape Wrath Ultra® dream!
We wanted to communicate this difficult news as early as possible to allow everyone to focus on what’s important right now, and avoid any uncertainty. We are mindful of the impact this will have on our community of participants, suppliers, freelancers and event volunteers.
We are also making other cancellations and alterations to our 2020 calendar of events. This is a very challenging time for many people, and the events industry among many others is going to be massively impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak.
I would ask that, during this difficult period, our customers recognise that we have a team of eight permanent employees who work year-round to ensure that we are able to organise highly professional events. If we were to offer large refunds across the board it would wipe out the cash needed to run the business in the months ahead.
We are looking to strike the balance between treating our participants fairly and planning long term in order to ensure that we will be able to continue organising our much loved and highly respected events for years to come.
The Coronavirus outbreak is a very fluid and rapidly changing situation, and we will continue to follow advice from the UK Government, especially Health Protection Scotland and Public Health England, and will keep our valued community of customers updated as appropriate.
