CAPE WRATH 100

A 100-mile adventure like no other – New for 2025. Explore the wilderness of the Cape Wrath trail over THREE adventure filled days in this unique 100-mile challenge.

The route follows the first 3 days of the Cape Wrath Ultra® route from Fort William – Achnashellach, covering 100-miles (162km) and 4,700m of elevation. Take in the Loch Linnhe ferry crossing to the start line, witness the famous sights of Glenfinnan and explore Knoydart and the large mountain and glen groups of Kintail – classed as the hardest section of the entire route - this 100-mile adventure may be compact, but it’s no less mighty!

Whether you’re Cape Wrath curious and looking to dabble in the multi-day race experience before embarking on the full journey, simply after a shorter adventure or adrenaline fuelled and looking to push for some harder, faster efforts over the rugged and wild terrain of the Cape Wrath trail, the new 100-mile offering certainly has something for everyone.

  • The Cape Wrath 100 follows the established multi-day format of the Ultra route.

The 100-mile distance is split over 3 days. See the exact route split here.

  • The Cape Wrath 100 is split over 3 days as per the Cape Wrath Ultra route. The longest continuous distance is 42 miles.

    Day 1 | Fort William – Glenfinnan 23 miles (37km) (500m)

    Day 2 | Glenfinnan – Kinloch Hourn 35 miles (57km) (1,800m)

    Day 3 | Kinloch Hourn – Achnashellach 42 miles (68km) (2,400m)

    Explore more of the routes.

  • There will be a coach departing from Achnashellach on the start of the Cape Wrath Ultra Day 4 which will take all Cape Wrath 100 participants back to Fort William.

As well as coach, there is the train station, from which you could either depart at end of Day 3 (if you get in early enough!), or the next morning.

Overnight camping is included for Day 3 into Day 4 for all participants.

Please note, we will not have a coach to Inverness station (like we do at the end of the full route) at the 100 finish.

  • There is no ‘explorer’ option available for participants undertaking the Cape Wrath 100. The aim is to complete all 100-miles to claim your finisher’s medal when you cross that finish line on day 3!

If you pick up a niggle or feel unable to complete the full distances after days 1 or 2, then we will of course support you in taking on the Explorer route for the final day(s) to ensure you get the most out of the Cape Wrath experience. Please note, this would not qualify for a finisher’s medal or overall position in the results.

  • All the bells and whistles that come with the full Cape Wrath Ultra experience. This is from the dry bag allowance, overnight camping facilitates and copious amounts of food, lending itself to a rather luxurious 100-mile stage race experience!

See more of what’s included in the entry fee and experience here.

  • The 100-mile race will follow the same pattern as the Ultra.

Day 1 - There will be wave starts between 11:00 and 12:00. Participants will be invited to select their start wave before the event.

Day 2 to Day 7 - Participants will be allocated a start window (for example between 07:00-07:30) based on their finishing time from the previous day; the slowest participants start first and fastest participants last. It is crucially important that participants start within the recommended time window or there is a significant likelihood that they will fail to meet the checkpoint cut-offs later in the day. We will likely not allow the fastest runners to start before 8:30.
