7 Beautiful Places on the Cape Wrath Ultra

The Cape Wrath Ultra is a 400km journey through the best scenery the Scottish Highlands have to offer. Here are 7 beautiful places that participants will get to visit on their Cape Wrath journey:

1.     Knoydart

“Britain’s last wilderness”… remote, wild and rugged, Knoydart is a hidden gem that few are fortunate enough to experience. Only accessible by a lengthy hike or by boat, the stunning views are worth the rough ground that Cape Wrath Ultra participants must tackle.

 2.     Kintail

Some of the finest and most famous Munros in Scotland can be found in Kintail. Weave through the remote mountain glens and soak in the views of the large and imposing mountain groups of Kintail on Day 3 of the Cape Wrath Ultra!

5.     Fisherfield

With no permanent settlements, the Fisherfield Forest is one of the most remote and wildest places in Western Europe. It’s a landscape to be savoured as participants travel to Inverbroom!

6.     Assynt

Assynt is quite unlike anything participants will have experienced up to this point. Characterised by isolated mountains that rise steeply out of the ground and some of the oldest rocks in Europe, this area has an other-worldly feel about it.

 7.     Sandwood Bay

No list about highlights of the Cape Wrath Ultra would be complete without Sandwood Bay. Golden sands and azure blue water provide a striking contrast with the desolate moorland you must cross to get to it. The dramatic silhouette of the Am Buachaille (the sea stack so often seen in the photos) make this view even more iconic.
